Job SummaryThe open position is in the Advanced Metering System
team supporting critical applications for AMI and AMS Outage
restoration processes. CenterPoint Energy is searching for a Lead
Programmer Analyst, experienced in the design, configuration,
development, deployment and support of enterprise level software.
The Lead Programmer Analyst will join our AMS team located in
Houston, Texas. Essential Functions
- Perform planning, development, coding, testing, and production
support of applications components and system interfaces.
- Perform analysis of client requirements and designs or modifies
programs/systems to meet those requirements. Prepares models,
(event, process, data, object, etc.) and prototypes as needed.
- Collaborate with IT and business stakeholders to define the
scope and objectives for all assigned projects using standardized
documentation techniques.
- Coordinate with other IT on premise infrastructure groups such
as security, compute, network, help desk and database teams to
ensure overall success of the application enhancements and
upgrades.
- Coordinates with team members on private cloud deployment of
certain system components.
- Coordinate with other IT and client groups on system
integration points and end to end support of business process.
Teams include varies business, SAP, middleware, market systems,
ADMS and GIS teams.
- Transforms or translate business requirements into technical
specifications, takes business requirements and delivers and/or
directs execution of technical work to yield new capabilities for
electric and gas delivery operations.
- Design, code, document, and test software components and
contribute to the development of coding standards.
- Design and participate in system testing, performance testing,
failover testing and code reviews.
- Contribute process improvement ideas and participate in
implementation strategy development.
- Assist in the execution of DevOps and DevSecOps strategies.
Assist in the maintenance and execution of DevOps tool sets.
Education DescriptionBachelor's degree in Computer Science or
related discipline preferred. Experience
- Experience working in an agile team environment and capable of
delivering new software product capabilities.
- Experience in C#.net & .net development with proven experience
in .net 6+.
- Experience with building and consuming Web APIs, Microservices,
Web services, SOAP, and REST.
- Experience working with web frameworks like angular or react or
blazor, experience building front-end applications using scripting
languages like type script, java script, jquery.
- Experience with database like ORACLE, SQL server, GCP
BigQuery.
- Experience in Cloud Native Solution Design, Development on
Cloud (GCP or Azure).
- Experience with reliable messaging and seamless communication
between distributed systems, experience with integration of Google
pub-sub / Azure Service Bus / Azure Message Queue.
- Understanding of continuous improvement (CI) techniques (Lean,
Kanban, 5S, etc) and general knowledge of DevOps strategies.
- Background in Advanced Metering Systems, Outage Management
Systems, Advance Distribution Management Systems and/or Control
