We strive for an inclusive work environment across all levels that is reflective of the available workforce in the communities we serve.Job SummaryThe Senior Sourcing Specialist leads the development and execution of highly complex, holistic, enterprise-wide category management strategies, including strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, rapid sourcing/negotiation and risk management. Develops, implements, and maintains proactive category strategies for assigned commodities creating spend leverage across CenterPoint Energy's footprint. The position negotiates commercial terms and pricing with vendors and develops contracts using established protocols as defined by the company. Engages all levels of the organization, including senior staff, to develop and execute sourcing strategies across assigned commodities. Serves as subject matter resource and formally or informally mentors other Sourcing Specialists. Essential Functions

• Practices category management by developing, implementing, and managing sourcing strategies to support the utility business across assigned commodities/services
• Provide category management expertise to internal clients through spend analytics, market research and cost modeling
• Leverage industry knowledge and technology to establish should cost models, identify opportunities for spend leverage, and drive supplier negotiations
• Research and develop a working knowledge of the assigned commodities/services or areas of responsibilities, including how the commodities/services are made, rendered, specification requirements, and how the commodities/services are used by the Company.
• Ensure internal client requirements are satisfied, develop change management activities, promote end user adoption, provide training and monitor end user satisfaction and needs
• Ensure quality and stability of supply of materials/services, monitor the timeliness of the deliveries/performance, and identify patterns.
• Work with clients to formulate and define the scopes and objectives of sourcing strategies
• Provide expertise to ensure that Service Level Agreements meet the needs of the end-user client area
• Identify and pursue opportunities to lower the total cost of goods and services; provide supply planning and analysis; and conduct supplier performance and relationship management
• Manage the procurement process to provide appropriate materials, supplies, and services for day-to-day requirements, as well as, emergent work, overhauls, and projects; focus on strategic procurement practices while conducting complex negotiations under aggressive timeline demands Education Description
  • Bachelor's degree required in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Engineering, Computer Science or other related discipline
  • Will consider relevant job-related CenterPoint Energy experience for non-degreed candidates Experience
    • 5+ years of relevant work experience required in category management and/or strategic sourcing with responsibilities for large, complex negotiations with vendors and a proven record of achieving bottom-line savings for year-over-year sustainable cost reduction.
